The third and final day of the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2015 resumed today in Moscow, Russia with both the ladies and men competing in the 1000m, 3,000m Super Final and Relay events. Minjeong Choi (Korea) was crowned the Lady World Short Track Speed Skating Champion, while Sjinkie Knegt (Netherlands) earned the honors as World Short Track Speed Skating Champion on the men’ side. This was the first individual World Championship title for the Netherlands since Peter van der Velde won the title in 1988.

The Dutchman took the lead after a tenth place in the 500m and a strong win in the 5000m. Title defender Koen Verweij (NED) crashed out of the tournament at the start of the 500m and Denis Yuskov (RUS) is Kramer’s main rival, he has to make up only 0.17 seconds on Kramer in the 1500m on Sunday to take the lead.

Brittany Bowe (USA) and Denis Yuskov (RUS) impressed with lowland world records on the second day of the World Single Distance Championships in Heerenveen’s Thialf stadium. Martina Sábliková added another title to her string of victories in the 5000m and the Dutch men won the team pursuit for the seventh out of eight times. Track records fell in the 1000m for ladies and the 1500m for men. Austrian youngster Vanessa Bittner improved the track record for juniors and five skaters set personal best times.
