ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series 2015 - Preview

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating series starts this week with the event in Bratislava (SVK) from August 19-23. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating consists of seven events. Bratislava is followed by the events in Riga, Latvia (August 26 to 30), Colorado Springs USA (September 2 to 6), Linz Austria (September 9 to 13), Torun Poland (September 23-27), Logroño (La Rioja) Spain (September 30 to October 4), Zagreb Croatia (October 7 to 11). The events in Riga, Colorado Springs, Linz and Torun include Pair Skating.

The top six skaters/couples of the series in each category will advance to the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Barcelona, Spain (December 10 to 13). More than 300 young skaters from over 50 ISU members are expected to compete in this year’s series. Each ISU member is entitled to enter competitors for the series while the number of their entries depends on the result of the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2015.

The following point system based on the ranking has been established to determine the qualifiers for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final:

The Global Prize money per individual event of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating is US$22.500,00 awarded to each medal winner for each category as follows:

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating provides young skaters aged 13 to 19 (21 for the male ice dance and pair skating partners) with the opportunity to compete at a high international level. While several top juniors have moved up to senior level, a number of them have returned to the Junior Series including reigning World Junior silver medalist Serafima Sakkhanovich (RUS), World junior bronze medalist Wakaba Higuchi (JPN), World junior bronze medalist Sota Yamamoto (JPN), 2013 ISU Junior Grand Prix Champion Maria Sotskova (RUS), World junior silver medalists Lorraine McNamara/Quinn Carpenter (USA) and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalists Alla Loboda/Pavel Drozd (RUS).

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating showcases talents from all over the world and the stars of tomorrow are waiting to be discovered.

For the second time, with the partnership of Red Brick Entertainment, a live feed of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series will be available to fans and television networks across the world on the ISU Junior Grand Prix YouTube Channel.
