Ihle delights homecrowd with 500m gold

Nico Ihle delighted the home crowd winning the Men’s 500m on Day 1 of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup at the Sportforum in Berlin. Nao Kodaira (JPN) took her fifth World Cup win in the 500m, America’s Heather Bergsma took her fourth 1000m gold of the season, and Kjeld Nuis (NED) won the Men’s 1500m.

ISU World Cup Speed Skating Final allocated to Stavanger (NOR)

On December 22, 2016 the ISU Council decided to move the ISU World Cup Speed Skating planned to be held in Chelyabinsk, Russia, on March 10-12, 2017. Despite the short notice to find a new host for the event, the Norwegian ISU Member Norges Skøyteforbund, informed the ISU that they agree to host the event.

China’s Jing Yu and Japan’s Miho Takagi took their second gold medal of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Astana on Sunday. Russia dominated the Men’s events with gold for Ruslan Murashov in the 500m and Denis Yuskov in the 1500m.

Three maiden wins on day 2 of Astana World Cup

All three individual distances on day 2 of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Astana got first time winners. Dutchman Dai Dai Ntab took his maiden victory in the men’s 500m, Japanese Miho Takagi did the same in the Ladies’ 1000m, as did Canadian Vincent De Haitre in the Men’s 1000m.
