As the summer training and season preparations continue, more news and updates from the Skaters are coming in. Believe it or not – there was even a competition happening! However, the Skaters are not only active on the ice these days.

Soucisse/Firus crowned Irish Champions 
The 2018 ISU Four Continents silver medalists Carolane Soucisse/Shane Firus have switched from Canada to Ireland and won the National title at the recent Irish Figure Skating Championships held in Dundee in mid-June.

Former Speed Skaters Marrit Leenstra (NED) and Matteo Anesi (ITA) are expecting their second child. A little sister for their daughter Melissa will be born in November this year.  

 

Valtter Virtanen starts Pairs

It is never too late to start something new! Seven-time Finnish Champion Valtter Virtanen has started a career in Pair Skating – shortly after his 36th birthday. His partner is Tilda Alteryd from Sweden, who competed in Pairs in the past season with Gabriel Farand for Canada.

A new chapter begins! We are excited to start this pair skating journey together and we are looking forward to our first season”, Alteryd wrote.

 

Schouten to compete at Dutch cycling nationals

Three-time Olympic Speed Skating champion Irene Schouten (NED) is training hard for next season and cycling is one of her activities to get ready for the winter. Schouten will even compete at the Dutch cycling nationals in Limburg this Saturday.

Commencement speech

Brittany Bowe (USA) delivered the commencement speech to the Florida Atlantic College of Medicine Graduates, the place where she studied too.

Skaters are not only comfortable on the ice but also on the red carpet as ice dancer Kaitlyn Hawayek proved at the Maxim Grand Prix Party in Montréal, Canada.
