The Bosideng ISU World Cup Short Track series concluded on 10-12 February in Spisšká Nová Ves (SVK). The other events in the series, starting in October 2004, were held in Harbin, Beijing (both CHN), Madison (USA), Saguenay (CAN) and Budapest (HUN).
Click here for the final Bosideng ISU World Cup rankings for 2004/5. Points are awarded for results at four out of the six World Cup events. Skaters who participated in five or six events receive points for their best four performances. The maximum total is 200.
Meng Wang (CHN) narrowly defeated Sun-Yu Jin (KOR) in the ladies’ overall competition after a very consistent set of performances. Yang Yang A (CHN) claimed third place overall in her comeback season after not competing in 2003/4.
Apolo Anton Ohno (USA) scored a remarkable maximum of 200 points to take the men’s overall title. Mathieu Turcotte (CAN) headed the rankings for the 500m and was second overall. 2004 World Champion, Hyun-Soo Ahn (KOR) finished third.
The remaining ISU short track events in the 2004/5 season are the World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships in Chuncheon (KOR) on 5-6 March and finally the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Beijing on 11-13 March.
