On the second day of the ISU Congress delegates continued to debate proposals to modify the ISU Constitution and General Regulations.
Relaxing of citizenship rules for Couples
The Congress unanimously passed a motion to make the citizenship rules for pair skating and ice dance couples less restrictive. The amendments mark a clear relaxing of the rules and intend to facilitate pairing in regions where skaters have encountered difficulties in finding a partner of the same nationality.
Championship Scheduling Changes
The Congress unanimously brought in an amendment proposed by the Short Track Speed Skating Technical Committee to schedule the World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships after the World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships. Championships already allotted will not be affected by this new ruling.
Parallel Figure Skating and Speed Skating sessions on Wednesday and Thursday
The Congress will divide into separate sections for Figure Skating and Speed Skating immediately on Wednesday morning. Discussion on numerous updates/clarification of the rules following the implementation of the ISU Judging System and suggested reforms of the Short Track World Cup format is likely to take place in the morning.
