Funding Criteria

Applications are invited from interested parties for funding for projects which will benefit children and young people within the terms of our funding criteria and mission statement.

The criteria emphasise that projects must be of a capital nature, with a reasonably long-term prospective lifetime. (NB. Computers and electronic equipment are only rarely supported due to their being susceptible to being overtaken by technological change.) Please note that it is Council policy only in very rare, defined circumstances to support minibus or similar vehicle projects, recognising that there are other charities which specialise in these. Also, with one ongoing exception, Wooden Spoon does not provide revenue support. Grants are generally in the range of £20-£100k and representing 25-100% of the total project cost. Exceptionally, grants in excess of these figures are made. Click here for examples of our Current Projects.

All projects must have the facility of being badged by the Society so that our members can recognise their contribution to local communities.

Visitors to this site are reminded of Wooden Spoon's Mission Statement within which all requests for capital projects should fall:

'The Wooden Spoon Society aims to enhance the quality and prospect of life for children and young persons in the United Kingdom who are disadvantaged whether physically, mentally or socially.'
