Somerset 1st XV

The success of the National 1st XV  (for further details of this Spoon initiative, please click here) has encouraged the Deputy CEO, Tony Richards to look at introducing Regional 1st XV’s. This has now been tried and tested in Somerset and the team is growing rapidly with eleven top companies all in the starting line up and growing in strength every week.

The Somerset Wooden Spoon First Fifteen Team includes Carshop, Castle Hotel, Clarks, Clark Willmott, Form Pro, Hazlebury Mill, Limited Edition, Raydun, R K Harrison, Sanctuary, Swallowfield, Walon and Wyverne. 

Somerset region have sought support for their fund raising efforts from potential sponsors to the tune of £1,000. They already have long term supporters Swallowfield on board as their team captain together with stockbrokers Rowan Dartington, the Limited Edition part of the Somerset Gazette and Somerset County Cricket Club. Clarkes Shoes of Street, Castle Hotel, Taunton, Clarke Willmott & Clarke, Sentinel Software and Wyvern Waste Services are the latest bodies to become involved.

In return sponsors receive:
- Two full page ads per year in the Limited Edition section of the Somerset Gazette
- Full recognition at the regions 5 events during 2003
- 1st XV draw for two International tickets
- Framed certificate of membership
