Following the 58th Ordinary Congress in June 2022, the Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance Skating Special Regulations & Technical Rules have been updated to reflect the accepted proposals and have been published on the ISU website.

The ISU Council met online on September 7, 2022. The following were among the decisions taken by the Council during the meeting.

As one of the international sports organizations winning the 2022 IOC Carbon Action Awards, the International Skating Union (ISU) pursues its efforts to measure and reduce carbon footprint across its activities. The latest initiative took place during the 58th Ordinary ISU Congress in Phuket (THA) (June 6-10, 2022), which was organized by the Figure and Speed Skating Association of Thailand (FSAT) and certified as a Carbon Neutral Event (Green Event concept).

Following changes adopted by the 2022 ISU Congress regarding Rule 102, paragraph 6, ISU Communication No. 2508 replaces and complements ISU Communication No. 2221 as well as enforces and re-enforces provisions outlined in other ISU Communications.

Communication 2503 announces Rules of Procedure for Officials Assessment Commission, evaluation of Judging and assessments for the Figure Skating branch.

ISU Communication 2502 announces the list of Figure Skating and Synchronized Skating Officials for the season 2022-23.

The ISU eLearning Platform has released a new updated version of the course “Program Components for Officials” for all International and ISU Judges and Referees. This video course provides detailed explanations on how to judge Program Components accurately, including the changes applied by the recently voted Figure Skating proposals at the ISU 58th Ordinary Congress (June 6-10, 2022).

The Communication No. 2463 providing the guidelines for the International Novice Ice Dance Competitions 2022/23 has been updated following ISU Congress 2022.

The ISU Council confirmed the allotment of an ISU World Cup Short Track to be held in Dresden, GER on February 3-5, 2023.

We are back with the seventh edition of P.L.A.Y (Pocket Learning Anti-Doping & You) for the month of June 2022 and the topic for this month is ‘REVEAL’, an online platform for reporting misconducts or suspicious behavior.

The ISU is seeking applications for the ISU Development Commission. Candidates should be experienced in the Figure Skating disciplines. A description of the role and required skills and experience is provided. Applications must be sent by July 31, 2022.

The ISU is launching a pilot online course for Level 3 of the ISU Coach Education Qualification Framework (Figure Skating) on the ISU eLearning Platform.

ISU Members have a new opportunity to apply for a Visiting ISU Coach in 2023/24 to assist them in establishing their skating program, coaching systems, as well as teaching skating skills, ensuring technical improvement, refining programs, preparing for competitions, etc.

The ISU eLearning Platform presents a new course providing a fresh technical update in the field of Synchronized Skating - an excellent way to prepare for the 2022/23 season ! 

The ISU Council met on June 5 and 11-12, 2022 during the 58th ISU Ordinary Congress. Communication 2488 has been revised to clarify information regarding ISU Championships 2023.
