Jae Youl Kim is the 12th President of the International Skating Union (ISU). In June 2022, he was elected as the first non-European President of the federation in its 130-year history. Jae Youl is committed to promoting openness and communication – to ensure that all skating sports reach new fans and markets – while safeguarding athletes and the ISU’s proud traditions.
Jae Youl served on the ISU Council from 2016 to 2022 and prior to that, was President of the Korean Skating Union from 2011 to 2016.
Jae Youl has also been an active supporter of the Olympic Movement for many years. He participated in the winning bid to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, and later served as Executive Vice President of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee (POCOG). For his contributions to the success of the 2018 Games, he received the Olympic Order from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He served on several IOC commissions, including the Olympic Program Commission. Currently, Jae Youl is a member of the IOC Coordination Commission for the XXV Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
In addition to his passion for skating and sports, Jae Youl has 25 years of marketing and business experience. He has held multiple executive roles across several multinational corporations and is currently President of Global Strategy Group, Samsung's internal strategy unit.
Jae Youl received a BA in political science from Wesleyan University, MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from Stanford University.
He is married to Seohyun Lee, who runs a nonprofit organization. They live with their three daughters and son in Seoul, Korea.
