Maria Teresa Samaranch was re-elected to a third term on the ISU Council in June 2022. She previously served on the Council from 2016 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2022.

Prior to that, she was the President of Spanish Ice Sports Federation from 2005 to 2014.

Maria Teresa Samaranch has been actively involved in international sports for many years and has long had a close relationship with the International Olympic Committee, not to mention her unwavering commitment to sports in the City of Barcelona. In 2004, she was the Head of Marketing and Protocol for the FINA European Swimming Championships in Madrid. Before that, from 2001 to 2003 she was the Head of Marketing and Protocol for the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.

In addition, Maria Teresa Samaranch has served in many other roles over the years. She has served in an advisory role at the Samaranch Foundation (China) from 2016 to the present day. She is currently a Board Member at Baqueira Beret, a position she has held since 1993. She is also a current Member of the Spanish Olympic Committee (2005-2014 and 2016-present). Other experience includes her roles as: Executive Board Member of the Spanish Olympic Committee from 2013 to 2014; President of the Nivalia Ski Show from 1997 to 2009; and Council Board of Fundació Barcelona Olimpica, City of Barcelona 2010-present.

Maria Teresa Samaranch holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration, a BSc in Sport Management, a BSc in Sport Marketing, and a BSc in Sport Finance.

She lives in Barcelona.
