After Yekaterina Shikhova’s gold in the ladies’ 1000m, Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) handed the crowd another home victory in the men’s 1000m at European Single Distance Championships on Saturday. Denis Yuskov (RUS) and Nico Ihle (GER) took silver and bronze.

Denis Yuskov (RUS) won the Race of the Kings at the ISU European Single Distance Championships on Friday. With 1 minute and 44.53 seconds, Yuskov was the only one to skate under 1:45 in the 1500m. Dutchmen Thomas Krol and Koen Verweij took silver and bronze.

Vanessa Herzog (AUT) took the first ever European single distance title in the ladies’ 500m in Kolomna on Friday. The 22-year-old Austrian sprinter was the only lady to break the 38 second barrier, finishing in 37.69 seconds.
