The Gangneung Olympic Park, open every day, hosted all ice events and a wide variety of outdoor performances. Aside from the sporting competitions, the spectators enjoyed cultural events, sponsor booths, technology experiences, and the Super Store.

The Olympic Cauldron was lit by 2010 Olympic gold medalist and Korean super star Figure Skater Kim Yuna on Friday marking the start of the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games. 

The International Skating Union is happy to introduce its special correspondents for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

ISU Members are invited to submit applications for the following ISU Championships for the season 2020/21 as listed below.

Further to ISU Communication No. 1978 and after having received ISU Members’ applications, the ISU recognized Seminars for Referees and Judges in several countries.

This Communication summarizes the main general obligations of ISU Members, according to the ISU Statutes and according to established procedures.

In accordance with article 19, paragraph 2.f), the ISU Council homologated the following Speed Skating World Records

Following the discussions between the International Olympic Committee (IOC), PyeongChang Olympic Organizing Committee (POCOG), the National Olympic Committees (NOC) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (KOR), the IOC President Thomas Bach announced today that a delegation from DPRK will participate at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

All Officials who continue to meet the criteria as outlined in the Special Regulations and who, considering the period of time elapsed since their initial appointment, require re-certification are eligible for acceptance to the Frankfurt Seminar 2018 re-certification program.

The ISU noted and welcomes the discussions currently taking place between the governments of the Republic of Korea (KOR) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (PRK) also involving a possible participation of PRK Skaters in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Within the context of the hearing of the (Oswald) Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Skating Union (ISU) has received the verdicts of the IOC Disciplinary Commission for Russian Speed Skaters:

The Northern Development Project organises a trainer/coach education for Speed Skating, on level 2 according to European standards.

As 2017 comes to a close the ISU President, Mr. Jan Dijkema, has a special message for all skating friends.
