Four Continents Champion Nathan Chen (USA) made a statement in the Men’s Short Program at Bridgestone Skate America in Lake Placid on Friday, taking the lead with 15 points to spare. Adam Rippon (USA) and Russia’s Sergei Voronov (RUS) follow in second and third, with good chances to make the Grand Prix Final.

Two-time World Champions Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford of Canada took the lead as Bridgestone Skate America opened with the Pairs Short Program. China’s Xiaoyu Yu/Hao Zhang came second followed closely by World silver medalists Aliona Savchenko/Bruno Massot of Germany. The top three teams are separated by a little less than three points.

Within the context of the Oswald Commission hearings the International Skating Union (ISU) has received the verdicts of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Disciplinary Commission of Olga Fatkulina and Aleksander Rumyantsev relating to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

The second ISU Shanghai Trophy starts on November 24-26, 2017. The event combines Synchronized Skating, Short Track Speed Skating and Figure Skating.  It is the first time that an ISU Event combines the three disciplines.

The last spots for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final are on the line at Bridgestone Skate America this week in Lake Placid (USA). Among those competing for a spot are two-time World Champions Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford (CAN), two-time World medalists Maia Shibutani/Alex Shibutani (USA) and Four Continents Champion Nathan Chen (USA).

New prodigies will challenge the ones who came up in previous seasons, while former champions have moved up to the senior ranks.

From a historical point of view, the Canadian Pair Barbara Wagner and Robert Paul from Toronto is one of the most successful.

Following the conclusion of the Audi ISU World Cup Short Track Competitions, quota places for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games 2018 in PyeongChang have been determined.

After two legs of the World Cup Series, National Olympic Committees (NOC) are on track to qualify spots for PyeongChang 2018.

Sven Kramer (NED) won the first and only 10000m race of the season before the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games in an epic battle with world record holder Ted-Jan Bloemen (CAN) at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Stavanger on Sunday. Erik-Jan Kooiman (NED) grabbed the bronze medal.

Canada took a second successive World Cup victory in the Men’s Team Sprint on Sunday in Stavanger. Korea grabbed gold in the Ladies Team Sprint after clinching bronze last week in Heerenveen.

Germany’s Claudia Pechstein won gold in a track-record six minutes, 56.60 seconds at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Stavanger on Sunday. 

The Netherlands were disappointed an aggressive approach could not yield a second relay gold at the Audi ISU World Cup Short Track in Seoul on Sunday.

The Netherlands took advantage of a collision between the race leaders to win their first ladies 3000m relay gold this Audi ISU World Cup Short Track season.

The race for the men’s 1000m overall crown was wide open entering the final and Liu Shaolin Sandor’s (HUN) gold settled it.
