You don’t need to win an Olympic medal to skate right into people’s hearts. This is exactly what Valentina Marchei and Ondrej Hotarek did at the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. The Italian pair delivered three spectacular performances in the team event Free Skating as well as in the individual Short and Free Program and lit up the Gangneung Ice Arena with their big smiles.

Heading into the ISU World Cup Speed Skating Final in Minsk (BLR), Grand World Cup leaders Håvard Holmefjord Lorentzen (NOR) and Miho Takagi (JPN) hope to cash in on a prolific season. The ISU World Sprint Speed Skating Champion and the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Champion spearheaded Norway and Japan, who definitely joined the Netherlands as major power houses in Speed Skating this year.

Fresh from battling for medals at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the globe’s greatest Short Track Speed Skaters will descend on the Canadian city of Montreal this weekend, looking to add the title of World Champion to their roll of honors. 

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships will be held in Zagreb (CRO) March 16 and 17. A total of 21 teams representing 16 ISU members have been entered for the Championships. 

As the only lady to win two gold medals in Speed Skating at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Nana Takagi was crowned Queen of the Gangneung Oval. The older of the successful Takagi-sisters won the Mass Start gold, which made its Olympic debut in PyeongChang on February 24. Just three days before, she had won the Team Pursuit title together with sister Miho, Ayano Sato and Ayaka Kikuchi.

Dajing Wu (CHN) crowned himself emperor of the 500m at PyeongChang 2018. The 23-year-old skater seized gold in the shortest Short Track distance, after already having won 10 men's 500m races at ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships and in the World Cup series since Sochi 2014.

Joy Beune (NED) and Allan Dahl Johansson (NOR) were crowned World Junior Allround Champions in Salt Lake City on Sunday.

Carolina Kostner’s (ITA) inspiring performances at the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018 belong to some of the most memorable Olympic moments. Kostner, who celebrated her 31st birthday on February 7, was not only the oldest of the 30 Ladies competing in PyeongChang, but the Italian also had to come back from scratch after sitting out for two and a half seasons. 

Sverre Lunde Pedersen was 3500 meters away from taking the first Norwegian ISU World Allround Speed Skating title since Johann Olav Koss in 1994, but did not manage to bring it home after a bizarre crash and Patrick Roest (NED) ran away with the title.

Thirteen-year-old Alexandra Trusova of Russia opened a new era in Ladies figure skating when landing two quadruple jumps – a Salchow and a toeloop - in her Free Skating at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2018.

Miho Takagi (JPN) grabbed the first ever Japanese World Allround Speed Skating title in the lions’ den on Saturday. The 23-year-old Olympic Team Pursuit Champion held off defending champion Ireen Wüst (NED) on the artificial ice rink, which was specially built for the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Stadium.

 The men’s event at the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships in a rainy but atmospheric Amsterdam Olympic Stadium, has become a clash of generations after the first two distances. 22-year-old Patrick Roest (NED) and 25-year-old Sverre Lunde Pedersen (NOR) are on top of the rankings after winning the 500m and the 5000m respectively.

Russia’s Alexandra Trusova became the first woman to land two quadruple jumps in one program on her way to gold as competition concluded in spectacular fashion at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2018 in Sofia (BUL) on Saturday.

Russia’s Alexey Erokhov skated to victory at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Sofia (BUL) on Saturday after favorite Alexei Krasnozhon (USA) pulled out injured. 

Miho Takagi (JPN) started the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships with a blast in the 500m, to take a big advantage over defending champion Ireen Wüst (NED) on the first day of the Championships on the outdoor track in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium on Friday. Wüst fought back in the 3000m and has not given up on the title just yet. Antoinette de Jong (NED) is third after two distances.
