The ISU was informed of the cancellation of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating events scheduled to be held in Bietigheim-Bissingen from February 19 – 21, 2021 and in Dresden from February 26 – 28, 2021.
The Deutsche Eisschnelllauf- und Shorttrack-Gemeinschaft (DESG) made the difficult decision to cancel the two ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating events. They closely monitored the health authorities position on COVID-19 but given the evolution of the health crisis and their prudence for the health and safety of the Athletes, Coaches, Officials, and volunteers, as well as the overall impact of the pandemic in the regions concerned, the appropriate course of action was for the DESG to cancel the events.
The ISU regrets that the hosting of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating events of Bietigheim-Bissingen and Dresden are no longer viable and thanks the DESG for their continued effort and support.
