The Men’s 500m features a deep field packed with strong contenders that have a chance to race on to the podium. There is Ziwei Ren (CHN), who won gold in the 1000m and with the Mixed Relay and who is after his third gold on home ice. His teammate Dajing Wu holds the world record and hopes to win an individual medal after coming fourth in the 1000m.

Korea’s Daeheon Hwang would like to add another medal to his gold in the 1500m. Shaoang Liu of Hungary is the reigning ISU World Short Track Champion over this distance and claimed bronze in the 1000m while his brother Shaolin Sandor Liu leads the ISU World Cup ranking and wants to make up for his disappointment in the 1000m when he crossed the finish line first but received a yellow card due to two penalties in the race. 1500m silver medalist Steven Dubois (CAN) is back in action as well.
