The ISU Council approved a new ISU Athlete Safeguarding Policy and related updates to the ISU Code of Ethics. The Athlete Safeguarding Policy was drafted in close cooperation with the ISU Athletes Commission.

Research has shown that unfortunately, no sport nor country is exempt from incidents of harassment and abuse. Everyone involved in the ISU sports has a role to play in actively safeguarding athletes from abuse, harassment and exploitation while they are participating in ISU Events and activities.

The new Policy defines what is meant by harassment and abuse, sets out how to raise awareness of the existence of abuse and harassment in sport, and promotes good practices for providing appropriate safety and protection for athletes of all ages when they participate in ISU Events and activities.

The Policy supplements the ISU Code of Ethics which governs the reporting of concerns and complaints and how the ISU handles reported concerns and complaints involving alleged abuse and harassment that fall within the jurisdiction of the ISU. The Policy also aims to encourage all ISU Members to adopt their own Athlete Safeguarding Policy.

A new page on the ISU website explains the policy, provides links to other relevant resources, and sets out how to make a report on an incident.
