Planet Ice x WISD

The International Skating Union (ISU) is proud to welcome as an Official Partner of the World Ice Skating Day (WISD) the UK-based ice leisure company Planet Ice, the largest chain of ice rinks in Europe. The ISU and Planet Ice share a common commitment to create initiatives and experiences aiming at expanding Ice Skating sports to the large public. In this spirit, Planet Ice will open up its 14 rinks and offer a range of free activities all over the country to celebrate the first-ever World Ice Skating Day on December 4th 2022.

This year and for the first time, Ice Skating will have its own celebration over one single day in the form of a global festival. More than 40 countries (view all WISD events here) will join the ISU on December 4th to launch the inaugural edition of the World Ice Skating Day, whose main goal is to create an experience for all ice skating lovers irrespective of age, gender or skills.

As official partner of this ISU initiative, Planet Ice is dedicated at making Ice Skating a fun and accessible environment by offering a variety of free public activities: free skating access to participating schools, 250 lessons (“Skate Excellence Learn to Skate”), an extract of their Christmas show (“Show and Skate Exhibition”) as well as special offers for the entire family on public skate sessions – accessible in the 14 Planet Ice rinks (view all Planet Ice events here).

The British public is invited to book their free sessions and get involved in the World Ice Skating Day by visiting one of the rinks which are located across England in Altrincham, Basingstoke, Blackburn, Bristol, Coventry, Gillingham, Gosport, Hemel Hempstead, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Solihull, Uttoxeter, Widnes.

All year round, Planet Ice conducts a plethora of training programs and events in their rinks to attract youngsters to put on their skates and enjoy the thrill of Ice Skating. Over 200 coaches deliver  “Learn to Skate” sessions, “Show & Skate” classes (Performing Arts on Ice) as well as tailor-made lessons for private, small group or competition purposes.
