The ISU Director General, Mr. Fredi Schmid, will retire effective on December 31, 2023. Mr. Schmid joined the ISU in 1996 and has added invaluable contributions to the growth of the ISU and development of our sport over the course of his tenure as Director General. Mr. Schmid initiated the discussion regarding a succession plan in June 2021 as his retirement age was approaching.
The ISU recently retained the executive search & advisory firm SRI to recruit a successor Director General to be appointed in 2023. Mr. Schmid remains fully committed to the ISU and a smooth transition to his successor.
