#PlayTrueDay 2023, #OnePlayTrueTeam @WADA
In April every year, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) celebrates the #PlayTrueDay, a digital campaign dedicated at promoting clean sport worldwide. The International Skating Union (ISU) has been standing in solidarity with this cause over the years, as part of its ongoing mission to protect the integrity, fair play and ethics of ice skating sports.
Every year, the global Anti-Doping community comes together in support of the #PlayTrueDay, a day praising the importance of preventing doping and raising awareness among athletes, sports federations, governments, the public and any Anti-Doping stakeholders. This year’s theme consists in building the world’s biggest team playing for clean sport; #OnePlayTrueTeam.
The ISU has been a proud participant to the Play True campaign since its inception in 2014, which also echoes its own Anti-Doping programs – that include Testing Procedures along with the ISU “Pure as Ice” prevention and education initiative.

The objective of the ISU “Pure as Ice” program is to educate ice skaters’ on clean sport and raising awareness among athletes and their entourage of the importance of preventing doping. Displayed at various ISU Events, the “Pure as Ice” outreach booths offer among others workshops, refresher courses as well as quizzes to test knowledge about Anti-Doping, creating a fun and engaging environment around the topic.

The ISU Anti-Doping Director, Ms. Christine Cardis, states: “The ISU constantly aims at improving and diversifying educational activities through its ‘Pure as Ice’ program to develop a genuine clean skaters community. In that sense, the #PlayTrueDay is a unique tradition that aligns with the ISU’s Anti-Doping goals which we support every year through targeted social media campaigns.”

To mark this year’s #PlayTrueDay edition, the ISU has requested a few skaters to express their views about what Play True means to them, and who inspires them to Play True.
