In view of the legacy of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in 2022, the ISU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Winter Sports Administrative Centre (CWSAC) regarding the establishment of an ISU Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Beijing.

Covering both Speed Skating and Figure Skating Branches, the ISU CoE in Beijing is a hub where education of Coaches, training of talented Skaters and various development activities would take place to push forward further development of Skating sports in China/Asia. As a legacy and sustainability project, the Ice Ribbon in Beijing would be considered as the primary host of the centre.
Both the ISU and CWSAC are enthusiastic about building a solid framework of the ISU CoE in Beijing in the near future. The project has gained support from all related parties in China.
The signing took place at the occasion of the official visit of the Chinese delegation headed by CWSAC Director General - Mr. NI Huizhong in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on July 25, 2019.
