The ISU Development Commission was pleased to support a Figure Skating project organized in Gramado, Brazil on July 19-28, 2018. The project gathered over 200 people from across Latin America, in particular Argentina and Brazil, to participate in Seminars to train and enthuse Coaches, Skaters and Judges in the region.
Five international moderators assisted Brazil during the packed 10-day program, which included Coaches seminars covering subjects such as coaching skills, planning, values and ethics, seminars to develop judging skills and the Brazilian National Championships 2018, which were followed by a Training Camp for Skaters and their Coaches.
Cooperation between ISU Members was evident everywhere, with Skate Canada helping Brazil to develop its own 4-year training program for Coaches, US Figure Skating providing Portuguese and Spanish translations of its educational program and two Argentinean Judges joining the judging panel for Brazil’s National Championships. The project was bookended by webinars to develop the knowledge and skills of the participants.
