The new Indoor Arena in Tomaszów Mazowiecki (POL) will host its first international Speed Skating races this weekend. The ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating 2018/19 series will debut at the Arena Lodowa and will be the first of a three leg event. The start lists will feature many new names, because most of last year's Champions are trying their luck in the senior ranks this season.

The last spots for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final are on the line when top Figure Skaters such as reigning World Champion Nathan CHEN (USA) and three-time Ice Dance World Champions Gabriella PAPADAKIS / Guillaume CIZERON (FRA) compete this week at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble. The Internationaux de France are the sixth and last event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2018/19.

Adelina Galyavieva and Louis Thauron are a new French Ice Dance team that have been skating together only since last February and they will debut at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating this week in Grenoble at the Internationaux de France.

Will the Japanese Ladies and the Russian Men be able to bring their season-opening form from the indoor rink at Obihiro to the Tomakomai Highland Sports Center this weekend? Olympic Champions Yuzuru Hanyu (JPN) and Alina Zagitova as well as World Pairs silver medalists Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov (RUS) and Ice Dancers Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin (RUS) came out on top on an eventful day of competition at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow (RUS). Rostelecom Cup was the fifth event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2018/19.

Russia’s Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin danced to their second Grand Prix gold medal and straight into their first ISU Grand Prix Final with a sublime display at the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow Saturday. Sara Hurtado/Kirill Khaliavin of Spain leapfrogged Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko (USA) to take the silver and the first Ice Dance Grand Prix medal for their country.

Two-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan overcame an ankle injury to win his second Grand Prix gold medal as the Rostelecom Cup continued Saturday in Moscow. Morisi Kvitelashvili of Georgia claimed the silver, the first ISU Grand Prix medal for his country, while Kazuki Tomono of Japan earned the bronze.

Denis Yuskov and Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) beat Olympic Champions Kjeld Nuis (NED) and Håvard Lorentzen (NOR) on Day 2 of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Obihiro.

With two gold medals and one silver the Japanese ladies showed their overall strength once more on Day 2 of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Obihiro.
