Choi Min Jeong (KOR) skated to a 500m title and said her second gold medal for the day eased the pressure she was under.

"I feel a bit more confident now," the 19-year-old said, having claimed she was at just “60 per cent” of her condition after winning the 1500m competition earlier on Saturday.

The big home hope for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games led the race throughout the final three laps to finish ahead of Arianna Fontana (ITA), who said she also has a long way to go in order to reach peak condition.

"I didn't feel that I'm 100 per cent ready to race and in particular the 500 is really hard for me right now, so my goal was to follow someone for one or two laps and pass before the Koreans were coming," the Italian said.

"The ice broke a little so I lost some speed but it was still a good race, doing something different to what I'm used to, so it's good.

"Usually I don't think about the others and just focus on going fast."

Shim Suk Hee (KOR) snatched third place ahead of Marianne St-Gelais of Canada.

Fan Kexin (CHN) won the Final B.
