Budapest / Hungary

Lim Hyo Jun (KOR) and Hwang Dae Heon (KOR) followed up their 1500m triumph on Saturday by winning gold and silver respectively in the men's 1000m at the Audi ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating in Budapest.

Just as in Saturday's final, Lim snatched the gold medal ahead of his teammate. With four months to go until the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the 21-year-old Lim is a major medal hope for the host nation, returning to Korea after two victories in three individual events in Hungary.

The duo also finished second and third respectively in the men's 500m on Saturday, with Shaolin Sandor Liu (HUN) coming home first to claim gold.

The 1500m bronze medalist Sjinkie Knegt (NED) had been leading the 1000m final with one lap to go but was penalised for pulling down Lim as the pair crossed the finish line. With the Dutch star excluded, Han Tianyu, of China, took his place on the podium claiming the bronze medal.

Wu Dajing (CHN) won the Final B ahead of Latvia’s Roberto Pukitis.

"The semi-final was really bad. I should've done a better job there," Pukitis said.

"But it's just the first World Cup competition, with three more to go, and the main goal (the Olympic Games) is in February."
