Mr. Gilles Vandenbroeck

Mr. Gilles Vandenbroeck passed away in France on November 4th, 2014 at the age of 49.

At the time of his passing he was a member of the Ice Dance Technical Committee, a role to which he was elected at the 53rd Ordinary Congress held in Barcelona, Spain in 2010.

Born on January 30th, 1965, Gilles Vandenbroeck began his involvement in skating at a young age and became the French Men’s Juvenile Champion at the age of nine. In 1988 he started officiating as an international Ice Dance Official and 16 years later became an ISU Ice Dance Referee.

Previously he was an elected member of the French Ice Dance Committee from 1984 to 1998. He was also an appointed member of the French Ice Dance Officials Commission from 1988 to 1998 and was reappointed in 2004.

Mr. Vandenbroeck is survived by his partner Jean-Pascal Jullien and his daughter Pauline.

The ISU pays tribute to Gilles Vandenbroeck’s devoted service to the ISU and asks Members to remember him with affection.
