In 2020, Julian Macaraeg became the first Filipino Short Track Speed Skater to compete at a Winter Youth Olympic Games. In Lausanne, he made his first steps towards his ultimate goal: competing at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

It was a dream ISU World Championship debut for Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov (FSR), as they stormed to the Pairs gold medal in Stockholm (SWE) on Thursday. Two-time World Champions Wenjing Sui/Cong Han of China took the silver medal while overnight leaders Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitri Kozlovskii (FSR) earned the bronze, their first World medal. 

Two-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan rocked the Men’s Short Program at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm (SWE) on Thursday for a six-point lead. Rookie Yuma Kagiyama of Japan burst onto the World stage coming second while two-time World Champion Nathan Chen (USA) had to settle for third place on the first day of the Men’s event. 

The International Skating Union (ISU) reiterates that the health and safety of all participants of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 remains the number one priority.

Anna Shcherbakova (FSR) clinched a narrow lead in the Ladies Short Program as the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 in Stockholm (SWE) opened Wednesday. Japan’s Rika Kihira sits in second while Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (FSR) came third.

After having caught the COVID-19 virus twice, Shaolin Sandor Liu (HUN) didn’t know what to expect during the 2020/21 season. Taking home one gold [1000m] and two silver medals [Overall and relay] from the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Dordrecht showed an exceptional recovery for Shaolin, who tested positive for the coronavirus back in September and November 2020.

A new edition of the epic duel between two-time Olympic and ISU World Figure Skating Champion Yuzuru Hanyu (JPN) and two-time ISU World Figure Skating Champion Nathan Chen (USA) highlights the Men’s event at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm (SWE). However, several strong contenders are prepared to enter the battle of the quad kings.

With four-time ISU World Figure Skating Ice Dance Champions Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron (FRA) sitting out the Championships this year, the Ice Dancers will crown new World Champions in Stockholm (SWE). Competition will be close and exciting with several top teams in the mix.

Pair Skating power houses China and “FSR” are poised to compete for the podium spots at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm (SWE). However, the deep field of 28 couples – a rarely seen high number - includes also strong teams from Canada, the USA and Europe.

After two successful international Short Track Speed Skating events, the 2020/21 season officially came to an end on the final day of the ISU World Short Track Championships in Dordrecht (NED) on March 7, 2021.

The Ladies event at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm (SWE) features an exciting mix of newcomers and experienced skaters who are expected to battle for the medals.
