In a race that included multiple lead changes and lots of movement throughout, Korea’s Choi Min Jeong paced herself to perfection to win the Ladies’ 3000m Super Final at the World Short Track Championships in Montreal, Canada – her third gold of the weekend.

It’s her first World Short Track Championships medal in the event and second gold in the discipline overall, having previously won at the World Cup in 2014/15.

Qu Chunyu (CHN) pulled out to an early lead, skating half a lap ahead of the pack at one point. But the gap between her and those chasing closed as the race progressed, becoming much tighter with 15 laps to go.

Kim Boutin (CAN) skated into first a few laps later but, as has been the case in nearly every race, Korea’s skaters made their move shortly afterwards. Choi assumed the lead with 11 laps remaining and teammates Kim A Lang and Shim Suk Hee followed her with seven to go.

China’s Li Jinyu broke up the potential Korean sweep late in the race when she glided by Shim and Kim, who finished third, into second place.

Boutin finished fifth while Qu fell all the way back to eighth and last place.
