Olympic Winter Games - Sochi 2014

Action from the Iceberg Skating Palace and Adler Arena situated on the Black Sea coast of Sochi. During the XXII Olympic Winter Games unforgettable memories were forged and historical moments took place. Here are some memorable events from Sochi 2014 that took place between 6 and 23 February 2014:

At 10.55 p.m. on Friday 7 February 2014, Russian three time Pair Skating Olympic champion Irina Rodnina lit the Olympic cauldron.

Russian Short Track Speed Skater Victor An won three gold medals at the XXII Olympic Winter Games. But the athlete who won the most medals at these Games was Ireen Wüst, with five Speed Skating medals (two gold, three silver).

For the first time in Figure Skating, the 100-point barrier was broken in a Short Program, by Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu (101.45), who went on to win the gold medal.
