    Laurent Dubreuil (CAN) secured the World Cup Trophy in the shortest distance. Tatsuya Shinhama (JPN) won the last race. Kjeld Nuis added a 1500m gold to Saturday’s 1000m win, but Joey Mantia (USA) went home with the 1500m World Cup Trophy, and Bart Swings (BEL) secured the Mass Start Trophy. In the women’s competition Irene Schouten (NED) added two more gold medals to her incredible season’s tally at the World Cup final. Olympic 500m Champion Erin Jackson (USA) secured the 500m World Cup Trophy winning the final race on Sunday. Miho Takagi (JPN) seized 1000m gold, with Brittany Bowe (USA) taking home the 1000m World Cup Trophy.

    Ireen Wüst and Sven Kramer (NED) waved the Thialf home crowd farewell at the ISU World Cup Final in Heerenveen on Saturday. Wüst, who came fourth in the 1500m at the World Cup final, collected 13 Olympic medals (6G, 5S, 2B) and multiple European and World titles, while Kramer won nine Olympic medals (4G, 2S, 3B). Kramer had already skated his last competition at the Beijing Olympic Games.
