A History of the International Skating Union – Seasons 1991/92 through 201/15 was published back in 2016 on the occasion of the 2016 ISU Congress. As of today the book is also available on Amazon  in a digital format and on this occasion the original “coffee table” size book is available in the ISU Shop with a 20% discount.

The next ISU Council meeting takes place on June 14 to 16, 2019 in Rome (Italy). On the eve of the meeting, the ISU Council had the honor to obtain a private hearing with His Holiness Pope Francis to discuss the importance of sport within society and how Sports including ice Skating can help to find a path for many young people.

As a step towards the fulfilment of the ISU Development Program objectives, we are pleased to announce that the ISU eLearning Platform is going live.

The initiative launched in 2018 to support Skaters who have retired within the previous 4 seasons to become Coaches, Officials, Administrators or any other appropriate function connected to Skating will continue in 2019. Further details of the application process can be found in ISU Communication No. 2252 and the deadline for nominations is June 30, 2019.

In order to develop Speed Skating and provide ice-time and training opportunities for Skaters from smaller European countries, a Training Group will be established with training camps to be held in Heerenveen, The Netherlands.

The ISU Development Commission is supporting the fourth year of the International Speed Skating development program based at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, UT.

In this education supported by the ISU Development Commission, Coaches working with beginners, advanced Skaters and youth up till about 16 years old get equipped to become an independent trainer-coach. Examples of education themes: didactics, pedagogics, positive coaching, safety on the ice...

The ISU Speed Skating Technical Committee, through the support of the ISU Development Program, will conduct a live stream on the latest changes to the Special Regulations and Technical Rules for the season 2018/19.

The ISU Anti-Doping Procedures have been updated to meet the WADA requirements to implement an effective, intelligent and proportionate Test Distribution Plan (TDP) and to clarify responsibilities. This Communication replaces ISU Communication No.2214, effective May 1, 2019.

The ISU Development Commission is pleased to announce the continuation of the Visiting ISU Coach initiative for 2019.

Further to ISU Communication No 2231, the summary of Championships application received by the ISU for Seasons 2021/22 is now available.

The Development Commission invites ISU Members to put forward for consideration the names of Coaches of Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating, who fulfil the requirements of ISU Communication No. 2052. Such support is available for a maximum of 4 Coaches.

o promote clean, true sport, the International Skating Union (ISU) and the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) worked in partnership to deliver the joint “Pure As Ice” and “PLAY TRUE 2020” campaigns during the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama City, Japan.

The Pure As Ice campaign made its last stop this season at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships in Neuchâtel (SUI). 16 out of 23 teams, including the 2019 World Champions, silver and bronze medalists teams, participated in the quiz, discussed topics around clean sport and took fun Pure As Ice pictures.

Another stop for the ISU Pure As Ice campaign, the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Zagreb. Over 70 participants joined the booth set up by the Croatian Institute for Public Health's including top Figure Skating juniors.
