Angel Daleman (NED) became the youngest ever Allround World Junior Champion in Speed Skating. The 15-year-old Dutch girl won four individual gold medals, a silver and a bronze at the ISU World Junior Speed Skating Championships in Inzell (GER). Jordan Stolz (USA), who already made a name for himself with World Cup victories in the senior ranks earlier this season, won the Men’s Allround title, racking up a total of four individual golds and two bronzes.

In the final 3000m she secured her Allround title by winning a bronze medal behind Momoka Horikawa (JPN) and last year’s World Allround Champion Jade Groenewoud (NED), who ended up third in this year’s Allround ranking. Greta Myers (USA) took silver in the overall ranking, as Horikawa did not compete in the Allround tournament.

Before Daleman, Kim You-Lim was the youngest Junior World Speed Skating Champion. The Korean was 16 years old when she took the title in Erfurt in 2006. While many World Junior Champions went on to build a prolific career in the senior ranks, Kim did not win any senior silverware after her success as a junior.

Stolz wins in World record

Stolz won the Men’s 500m, 1000m and 1500m, only to end up third in the concluding 5000m. With a total of 142.914 points, the 18-year-old from Wisconsin set a new World Junior record in the Allround junior combination.

Norway’s Sigurd Henriksen (NOR) was the only one to beat Stolz in an individual distance, winning the 5000m in 6:15.30.

Daleman adds Mass start title

On Sunday Daleman added the mass start title to her already impressive tally, beating last year’s Champions Chloé Hoogendoorn (NED) and Juna Jeong (KOR) in the bunch sprint.

Stolz had to settle for bronze in the mass start, crossing the line a little over seconds after Lukáš Steklý (CZE) had beaten Daniel Hall (CAN) in a sprint for gold and silver.
