The ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2014 concluded in Courmayeur, Italy, Saturday with the Free Skating.

Team Finland 1 strikes gold

Team Finland 1 (Marigold Ice Unity) struck gold, giving Finland its eighth title at the ISU World Synchronized Championships. Team Canada 1(Nexxice) edged past Team Finland 2 (Rockettes) to claim the silver medal.

Marigold Ice Unity (Finland 1) delivered a powerful performance to music from “Position Music. Orchestral Series Vol. 3” that was highlighted by their intersections, moves in the field and no hold elements. The Finns earned a level four for eight elements and collected 147.31 points. They totaled 223.45 points.

Nexxice (Canada 1) skated to “West Side Story” and picked up the same levels for their elements as the champions. The Canadians scored 146.03 points and overtook Team Finland 2 to repeat as silver medallists with 220.88 points overall.

Performing to a medley of songs by Queen, the Rockettes (Finland 2) were dynamic and solid as well to earn 145.48 points. However, they slipped to third at 220.66 points.

Team Russia 1 (Paradise) remained in fourth place with 211.82 points. Team Sweden 1 (Team Surprise) moved up from sixth to fifth (204.20 points) and Team Canada 2 (Les Supremes) pulled up two spots to finish sixth (197.01 points).
