Attended by over 250 Delegates, the 58th Ordinary ISU Congress opened on June 6, 2022 with a welcome message by the ISU President Mr. Jan Dijkema and a minute’s silence was held in memory of great friends of the ISU and the Skating family who are no longer with us.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is pleased to announce that the International Synchronized Skating Competitions for the season 2022/23 have been published.

The ISU Council approved a new ISU Athlete Safeguarding Policy and related updates to the ISU Code of Ethics. The Athlete Safeguarding Policy was drafted in close cooperation with the ISU Athletes Commission.

There is no „I“ in team -an age-old motto especially relevant in Synchronized Skating When coaches send a group of skaters onto the ice, they are sending out a team, not a group of individuals.

Many Synchronized Skating Alumni are known to pursue careers in the sport. Some become Technical Specialists or Judges, others focus on building awareness for the sport through NGO’s. And the third type of alumni are skaters that start coaching the next generation of  skaters. Nadine Banholzer’s passion has led her to help young and passionate skaters to fulfil their dreams.

During the latest ISU Council meeting held on April 1-2, 2022, the feasibility of maintaining the ISU Skating Awards 2022 was evaluated.

Les Suprêmes of Canada claimed their first World title and the third for Canada. To the delight of the crowd, they did it on home ice at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Hamilton (CAN) Saturday.

The Helsinki Rockettes of Finland skated to a narrow lead in the Short Program as the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships kicked off in Hamilton (CAN) Friday.

During the past two years, the Covid-19 pandemic has forced many Synchronized Skating teams to pivot their training to alternative options. This challenge has helped the sport to evolve into a more competitive field, with many more countries building stronger skaters. Teams around the world were forced to become very creative with their training options, such as virtual off-ice sessions or skating challenges on TikTok.

Following a break of two years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships are finally back. The World’s top teams gather this week in Hamilton (CAN) to find out who their new champions are.

Team Fintastic Junior (FIN) successfully defended their title as the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships concluded in Innsbruck (AUT) on Saturday. Team Skyliners Junior (USA) claimed the silver medal and the bronze went to the newcomers from Team Elite Junior (USA). It was an exciting battle until the end with only 1.50 points separating the winners from the bronze medalists.

The ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships will be held in Innsbruck (AUT) March 17-19, 2022. A total of 23 teams representing 18 ISU members have been entered for the Championships. This is the seventh edition of the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships, which was a biennial event, and has become annual beginning of 2017. The event was cancelled in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.
