Adult Figure Skating has been under the ISU umbrella since 2005 when the first ISU Adult Figure Skating Competition was held in Oberstdorf, Germany.
There are now two major ISU adult competitions – one in Oberstdorf each May and another in North America each fall. Today, these competitions attract hundreds of skaters from many member federations.
Participation in the Free Skating, Artistic Free Skating, Pair Free Skating, Ice Dance and Synchronized Skating disciplines is for skaters of all skill levels and has even attracted former World and Olympic competitors. Skaters compete in various age categories (see Announcement for details).
Competitors must be 28 years of age before July 1 preceding the competition. Synchronized skaters must have reached 25 years of age before July 1 preceding the competition. In 2019, the ISU eliminated the upper age limit.
