Skating fair means training and competing in accordance with the rules. It means skating that is free of doping, manipulation, conflicts of interest, bias, and discrimination. All members of the Skating community - Skaters, Coaches, athlete support personnel, Officials, parents, ISU Members - are responsible for making sure that they act respectfully towards opponents, and that they do not attempt to manipulate competition outcomes for any reason by means of doping, bias, purposely losing or underperforming, interfering with opponents or any other means. 

The ISU believes that:

• Skaters are fair when they respect their opponents, follow the rules, and skate to the best of their ability in every competition
  
  
• Officials are fair when they make decisions impartially and neutrally with no bias for or against any athlete
  
  
• Coaches and athlete support personnel are fair when they model fair behaviour, protect Skaters from harm, give equal opportunities to all Skaters, and encourage their Skaters to compete fairly
  
  
• Parents are fair when they model fair and respectful behaviour towards their children’s opponents, respect the needs and rights of their children, and set clear expectations of fair behaviour 
  
  
• ISU Members are fair when they run a well-governed and transparent organization, treat all Skaters respectfully, encourage equal and honest competition, and make choices and selections based on merit and without bias 

Fair Play

Skating Fair also includes Fair Play and the ISU and the Skating Integrity Unit are proud to celebrate athletes who have been recognized for their Fair Play. We know there are many other Skaters, Coaches, Officials and others in our sports exemplifying Fair Play every day and supporting and respecting their teammates, competitors, and skating friends from other countries.
