Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) has been selected as a finalist for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 2023 Individual Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Sakamoto was considered for this year’s award based on her athletic achievements between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. The Women’s Sports Foundation selects a total of 10 finalists in individual sports and 10 in team sports.

Voting began on July 28 and will conclude on Tuesday, August 8 at 11:59 pm EST. The winners will be determined by a combination of a public vote and the WSF Awards Committee’s vote and announced at the Annual Salute to Women in Sports on October 12, 2023. The winners will be two athletes – one individual finalist and one team finalist.
