Berlin will host the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships for the third time in history. Sven Kramer leads the Dutch quest to equal Norway’s record total of 36 World Allround titles in the Men’s tournament at Sportforum Hohenschönhausen. Martina Sábliková (CZE) and Ireen Wüst (NED) will probably reignite their battle for the ladies’ crown after Wüst’s absence on the international stage in the first half of the World Cup season. Kramer and Sáblíková are the defending Champions.

The inaugural ISU Shanghai Trophy 2016 will be held in Shanghai, China, on March 4-6. The event combines Synchronized Skating and Short Track Speed Skating. It is the first time that an ISU Event combines the two disciplines.

Brittany Bowe (USA) and Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) successfully defended their World Sprint titles at the 47th World Sprint Championships in Seoul. After a challenging first day they both made their mark with a superb 500m on the final day of the tournament.

Heather Richardson-Bergsma (USA) and Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) lead the classification after day one of the 47th World Sprint Championships in Seoul, but the battle is far from over. Jorien ter Mors (NED) put the pressure on Richardson beating her in the 1000m, and Kjeld Nuis (Ned) did the exact same thing to Kulizhnikov in the men’s tournament.

Seoul hosts the World Sprint Championships for the second time in history after Jeremy Wotherspoon (CAN) and Monique Garbrecht-Enfeldt (GER) took the titles there in 2000.

32 athletes from 16 countries competed in the Short Track Speed Skating competitions between February 14 and 20, 2016. Medals were up for grabs in five events including the Ladies and Men 1000m, 500m and the Mixed NOC Team Relay. The crowd were supportive of the YOG athletes competing at Gjøvik Olympic Cavern Hall, which is located inside a mountain in the picturesque lakeside town of Gjøvik.
