#Letsmove

Let's Move Campaign for Olympic Day, June 23, 2023. @International Olympic Committee

“The world is moving faster than ever, but young people are moving less.” This statement, based on research made by the World Health Organization (WHO), has driven the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to come up this year with the “Let’s Move” initiative, designed to inspire and enable the world to move more every day. Starting today, June 23, 2023, to mark the Olympic Day, “Let’s Move” aims at creating a global movement encouraging people to make time – at least 30 minutes a day – for physical activity. In its continued support to the Olympic Day spirit and values, the International Skating Union (ISU) invites the ice skating community to join the movement and launches on this occasion a special training campaign in collaboration with internationally renowned athletes from all ISU disciplines.

From Skaters to ice-skating lovers and beyond

To inspire its community to move more, the ISU has brought to life the IOC’s message by bringing together skaters from all over the globe, who were keen on sharing their daily sports and wellbeing routines. All these contributions are compiled into a special ISU “Training Campaign”, which is to be discovered as from today and throughout the month of July on all ISU digital channels.

With movement being beneficial to hearts, bodies and minds, this campaign aims at highlighting easy-replicable techniques and advice from skaters to lead healthy lifestyles both physically and mentally. Three interrelated areas will be covered in a series of video contents: workout exercises, nutritional tips and recovery methods. An opportunity for ice-skating lovers and the sports community at large to get to know the skaters’ season preparation not only at the rink, but also at the gym, in their kitchens and even in their free time.

Among the participating athletes, the 2023 ISU European Figure Skating bronze medallist Kimmy Repond (SUI), the 2023 World Short Track Speed Skating Champion Park Ji-won (KOR), the 2018 and 2022 Olympian and World Cup medallist Speed Skater Viktor Hald Thorup (DEN) and the 2023 World Synchronized Skating Champions “Les Suprêmes” (CAN) will be opening the doors of their training journeys as a source of motivation to get active on Olympic Day - and regularly on a daily basis.

So be ready for inspirational stories from our beloved ice skaters that are accessible to anyone, anywhere and anytime. Stay tuned on the ISU website and social media accounts !
