The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2017 will open in Taipei, Chinese Taipei, on March 15. Taipei hosts the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships for the first time, but has hosted the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships before.

Dutch Kjeld Nuis and American Heather Bergsma convincingly took hold of the Men’s and Ladies’ Grand World Cup on the last day of the 2016/2017 World Cup season. Both Nuis and Bergsma won the final 1500m in Stavanger on Sunday.

Martina Sáblíková (CZE) took gold in the 3000m to win her 11th consecutive long distance World Cup at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup Final Stavanger on Saturday. In the Men’s tournament Kjeld Nuis concluded a near perfect season with a gold medal to take the 1000m World Cup.

The ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships start on Friday March 10, 2017 in Rotterdam (NED). The World Short Track Champions will be crowned on Sunday March 12. Unlike the World Cup where skaters race one or two distances and win distance titles, during the World Championships the skaters compete over four distances.
