The ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2016 will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on January 29-31. It is the first time that Bulgaria hosts these World Junior Championships where 193 skaters from 39 ISU Members have been entered to compete.

The ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2016 concluded today with the crowning of this year’s individual and team champions. Elise Christie (GBR) was crowned the Lady 2016 ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Champion for the second consecutive year, while Semen Elistratov (RUS) took the championship title on the men’s side. This was Elistratov’s first ever European Championship title. In the team events, the relay champions for both the ladies and men’s events is Netherlands.

After spending yesterday racing through qualifying rounds in all individual distances, Europe’s best short track speed skaters took the ice today in Sochi for the Ladies and Men 1500 m and 500 m finals. Elise Christie (GBR) and Semen Elistratov (RUS) concluded the day leading their respective European Championship classification.

China claims three gold medals today in front of home crowd. Kexin Fan (CHN) and Dajing Wu (CHN) win their respective 500 m final, while Ziwei Ren (CHN) wins the Men's 1500 m. In the Ladies' Relay, Korea wins for the fourth time in as many World Cup events. On the Men's side, Hungary claims a historical first gold medal in the Relay.

Canada and Korea each earn two gold medals during Saturday's racing. Valerie Maltais (CAN) earns her first individual gold medal of the season in the 1000m while Yoon-Gy Kwak (KOR) tops the podium on the Men's side. The Ladies 1500m is won by Minjeong Choi (KOR), who wins for the third time in a row in the distance this season. Charles Hamelin (CAN) earns his fourth gold medal of the season, winning the Men's 1500 m.

Kexin Fan (CHN) and Francois Hamelin (CAN) top of podium in their respective 500m events, while Minjeong Choi (KOR) earns a second individual gold medal of the weekend. The Korean women’s relay team earns its third gold medal of the season.

Canada earns three medals in the 500 m events thanks to a double-podium finish for the Hamelin brothers. Korea sweeps the Ladies 1500 m podium with Minjeong Choi leading the charge.

Minjeong Choi (KOR) and Charles Hamelin claim wins in the 500 m, while Suk Hee Shim wins the 1000 m in consecutive World Cup events. Korea and Canada each claim gold medals in the Relay events.

Samuel Girard (CAN) and Alexander Fathoullin (CAN) provide Canada with a gold and silver medal in the first 500 m event of the weekend. Korea picks up two gold medals with wins in the Ladies and Men 1500 m.

The ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Series 2015/16 resumed today in Montreal (CAN) with the Ladies and Men’s 500 m, second 1000 m and Relay events. Marianne St-Gelais (CAN) and Dajing Wu (CHN) claim wins in the 500 m, while Canada earns a one-two finish in the Men’s 1000 m event. Relay victories for Korea and China.

Minjeong Choi (KOR) and Tianyu Han (CHN) win the first 1000 m of the weekend, while Korea earns additional medals in the 1500 m events.

The Short Track season starts this week with the ISU World Cup Short Track series. The circuit consists of six events across North America, Asia and Europe.

The third ISU World Development Trophy in Short Track Speed Skating was held in Auckland, New Zealand on 11-16 April 2015

The third and final day of the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships 2015 resumed today in Moscow, Russia with both the ladies and men competing in the 1000m, 3,000m Super Final and Relay events. Minjeong Choi (Korea) was crowned the Lady World Short Track Speed Skating Champion, while Sjinkie Knegt (Netherlands) earned the honors as World Short Track Speed Skating Champion on the men’ side.
