Peter Michael took a historic first New Zealand World Cup gold, when he won the Men’s 5000m at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Astana on Friday.

The ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating this season will feature fresh and familiar prodigies. As of the 2016/17 season a competition for neo seniors is added to the Junior World Cup, which will hand skaters who have not yet reached World Cup level in the senior ranks a chance to develop further internationally.

Heather Bergsma (USA) and Jorrit Bergsma (NED) took one victory each; Nao Kodaira (JPN) gave the home crowd reason for celebration, while Bo-Reum Kim (KOR) won the Ladies’ Mass Start. Nico Ihle (GER) took a surprise gold in the 500 m.

Sven Kramer took a surprise win in the 1500m on the final day of the first ISU World Cup Speed Skating Series 2016/17 in Harbin. Heather Bergsma (USA) took the Ladies’1500m gold and Nao Kodaira (JPN) grabbed her second 500m gold of the weekend on Sunday.

Roman Krech (KAZ) surprised the pack when he took 500m gold on the second day of the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Harbin. Heather Bergsma (USA) won the Ladies’ 1000m and Kjeld Nuis (NED) defeated Pavel Kulizhnikov (RUS) to win the 1000m. The Netherlands took gold in both the Ladies’ and the Men’s Team Pursuit.

Nao Kodaira, Sven Kramer and Martina Sábliková took gold on the first day of the ISU World Cup Series 2016/17, which took off with in Harbin (CHN) on Friday.

Dutch Kjeld Nuis and American Brittany Bowe will defend the Grand World Cup in the 2016/17 ISU World Cup Speed Skating Series, which will kick-off in Harbin China on Friday November 11, 2016.

Today the ISU Council confirmed that the ISU European Speed Skating Championships 2017 have been allotted to the KNSB and will take place on January 6-8 in Heerenveen (NED).

Elizaveta Kazelina became the first female Russian World Junior Allround Champion, when she powered to the title with three distance wins in Changchun on Saturday.

Brittany Bowe (USA) and Kjeld Nuis (NED) went home with the Grand World Cup at the World Cup Final in Heerenveen on Sunday.

Brittany Bowe (USA) was the queen of the ice in Heerenveen on Saturday. The World Sprint Champion won both the ladies’ 500m and 1500m, with compatriot Heather Richardson-Bergsma coming second on both occasions. Sven Kramer (NED) won the man-to-man battle with compatriot Jorrit Bergsma in the 5000m.

Brittany Bowe (USA) started the World Cup Final with another victory in the 500m in Heerenveen on Friday. In the Men’s 500m Ruslan Murashov (RUS) grabbed gold in Thialf Stadium. Despite being absent Martina Sábliková (CZE) won a milestone 3000/5000m World Cup, with Natalya Voronina (RUS) winning the final race of the season.

The Netherlands finally managed to equal Norway with 36 Men’s World Allround titles on Sunday, when Sven Kramer secured his record extending eighth World Allround gold in Berlin. In the Ladies’ tournament Martina Sábliková (CZE) defeated Ireen Wüst (NED) in a hard fought battle to take her career fourth World Allround Title.
