Reigning World Champions Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) danced off with their fourth Skate America title as the first ISU Grand Prix event continued with the Free Dance in Allen, Texas (USA) Sunday.

It is only two days old, but the Women’s ISU World Cup Short Track season is already shaping up to be an exhilarating one.

After 12 months off the competitive ice, Shaoang Liu (CHN) has been itching to get back into the game. At the Maurice-Richard Arena in Montreal on Sunday, the reigning Olympic 500m champion proved he is as sharp as ever.

With several major names retired, resting or undecided about their sporting futures, the 2023-24 ISU World Cup Short Track Women’s season always looked like an opportunity for a new generation of skaters to step up to the very top of the sport.

“Quad God” Ilia Malinin (USA) did his nickname justice on his way to his second ISU Grand Prix Skate America title as the Men’s event wrapped up with the Free Skating in Allen, Texas (USA) Saturday. 

Short Track hasn’t been the same without the Liu brothers. After a terrific Beijing 2022 Olympic Games – during which Shaoang Liu (CHN) secured Hungary’s first ever individual Winter Olympic gold medal, and his big brother Shaolin Sandor Liu (CHN) pocketed a bronze – Shaoang became overall World Champion.

Two-time ISU World medalist Loena Hendrickx of Belgium reigned in the Women’s Short Program at the ISU Grand Prix event Skate America in Allen, Texas (USA) on Saturday. U.S. Skaters Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito follow in second and third.

Reigning European bronze medalists Annika Hocke/Robert Kunkel (GER) claimed their first ISU Grand Prix victory as the Pairs event concluded with the Free Skating at the ISU Grand Prix Skate America in Allen, TX (USA) Saturday. 

Reigning World Champions Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA) danced to a confident lead as the ISU Grand Prix Skate America continued with the Rhythm Dance in Allen, Texas (USA) Saturday. Their rocky Rhythm Dance saw them finish ahead of Marjorie Lajoie/Zachary Lagha of Canada and France’s Evgeniia Lopareva/Geoffrey Brissaud.  

To the delight of the home crowd, Ilia Malinin (USA) jumped to the lead at his home ISU Grand Prix Skate America in Allen, Texas (USA) on Friday. Kevin Aymoz of France stands in second place while Japan’s Shun Sato came third. Skate America is the first of six events in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series where international top Figure Skaters collect points towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2023/24 in Beijing (CHN) on December 7-10.

Skate America is the first of six events of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series where international top Figure Skaters will collect points towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2023/24 in Beijing (CHN) on December 7-10.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is thrilled to introduce Michaela Scalisi, the former Swiss national competitor and renowned Wild Ice Skater, who is affectionately known as 'Michaela Carrot' among her followers. She has been designated as global WISD Icon for the highly anticipated World Ice Skating Day (WISD) set to take place on December 3, 2023.

The 2023/24 season of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Series will commence at the Maurice-Richard Arena in Montreal, Canada, from 20-22 October, 2023. It is the first of an exciting double header in the Canadian city – the athletes return to the same venue the following weekend for another ISU World Cup meet. It will also be a triple-header in the region for many skaters: the ISU Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships will take place in nearby Laval from 03-05 November, 2023.

On October 17, 2023, during the 141st  International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session that was held in Mumbai, India, the ISU President, Jae Youl Kim, was elected as IOC Member.
